Pricing

When is the right time to raise your prices

Many shop owners are afraid to raise their prices even when their costs have gone up - but putting it off too long hurts more than a clear, justified increase.

1. Track your real costs regularly

If your product or shipping costs have gone up and you're still at the old price, you're effectively losing money on every sale.

2. Small, frequent increases beat one big sudden jump

Customers accept a small increase every so often far more easily than one big jump all at once that feels like a shock.

3. Explain the reason if it feels necessary

A simple line like "due to rising shipping costs" helps the customer understand instead of feeling you're just taking advantage.

4. Compare yourself to the market, not just your old price

If competitors' prices have gone up and you're still standing still, you might genuinely be underpriced for no good reason.

Raising prices is a sensitive decision, but delaying it until you're forced into a sudden jump is harder on your customers than doing it gradually. Clarity and gradual steps make the decision easier for everyone.
